In certain work places, you will need to find out if wearing perfume is allowed. There are some places that do not welcome scents, such as sales positions, working with kids or animals, hospital work and so on. Wearing a bold perfume will not be appropriate in these cases. However, wearing a bold heavy scent is alright if you are moving around, like going shopping or going for a party or a club. How to apply perfume
Whichever type of perfume – spray, lotion or deodorant, it is best to apply before you put on any clothing or jewellery. Some perfume and fragrances leave permanent stains on fabrics, metals and pearls.
The best place to apply perfume on your body, are specific areas known as pulse points. These are areas where your blood vessels are very close to your skin - a lot of heat is generated at these points. These areas include the wrists, the bend of the elbows, between the breasts, behind the knees and behind the ankles. Never apply perfume behind your ears; this can blend with skin secretions creating a bad smell. Do not dab your wrists together after applying perfume fragrances - this breaks down the scent.
If you have dry skin, then your perfume will wear off faster than those with oily skin. This means that if you have dry skin, you might need to give yourself one or two extra perfume sprays during the day.
Only apply perfume to your hair if it is freshly washed. Otherwise, the natural oil in your hair will mix with the scent of the perfume, which could lead to some undesired smells. If you are spraying your hair, do so once or twice from a distance of at least 8 inches. Another option is to spray some of the perfume in your hands, and then run them through your hair. Make sure you do not spray your hairbrush or comb – as the scent will remain attached to it, and will affect any other scents you may spray into your hair later.
